Now, when most people hear "The Final Four" they immediately think of sports. Basketball, right? Sorry Christy, I know I've let you down. But to me, "The Final Four" signals the upcoming season finale of the greatest reality show on television right now, So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD, for those of you who are hip). Next week I'll be in SYTYCD heaven as the show will be on three times. Then I will be going through reality television withdrawal until America's Next Top Model (the next best reality television show) begins in the fall. Come on, how can you not love 18 year old catty bitches taking on such challenges as, "Stand here as still as a statue as we have 10 live pigeons land on your head" or "Depict this horrible eating disorder, but like, in a artsy fierece way." Not to mention that we get to witness Tyra dressed up like a drag queen imparting her "wisdom" and "years of experience" to all the young hopefuls.
But, enough about ANTM and back to SYTYCD. The final six contestants are all crazy talented. All are skilled enough and deserving to win, but I of course have my favorites. My bet is that the title is going to a girl this year. Here are my picks in order of how much I like them -
Sabra - She's the winner in my book. She's got the mad skills, a cute personality, and gives a great performance. The jidgis (written like Cat Deely pronounces it) love her, which I believe actually influences the audience voting. I love the fact that she's only been training for 4 years. Also, I've always wanted a cool fro like hers. I know it probably wouldn't work for me, but I just think they are so damned cute.
Lacey - She may pull off the title. My like for her matches my like for Sabra. Lacey is just so damn sexy and she always brings a fun performance. I also love the fact that she has a "real" body. Well, more "real" than most dancers. Besides, she's Benji's little sister and that family seems to just breed awesomeness.
Pasha - Ah, the cutie Russian. That gap toothed smile and accent.....who couldn't fall in love with him? His Latin dancing is fierce and he seems to be a great partner. The fact that he pulled off "hip hip nerd" delights me.
Neil - SYTYCD eye candy. If they had him dance topless every week, all the tween girls would vote for him and he'd will hands down. His gymnastic tricks are awesome, but there is something about his personality that kind of bugs me. His "Office Politics" dance with Sabra was amazing though.
Lauren - Meh. She's just too smiley and desperate for me. It's like she's always trying way too hard to win over the jidgis and America. Her "dance for your life" dance always looks the same to me. She's a Lacey wannabe without the awesome gene.
Danny - I'll admit that technically, he is the best dancer on the show. However, his personality SUCKS. He's always seemed a little aloof and stuck up, but the clincher for me was last week when he found out that he wasn't in the bottom two. Usually when the contestants find out that they are safe they smile and humbly wish the losers good luck. They seem truly sad that one of their friends may be going home. Not Danny. Nope, he jumped up and down squealing like a little girl and then ran off the stage without giving a second thought to the people who lost out. And, the very first time he was in the bottom three, he laughed. It was like, "Ha ha! America is so stupid. I'm WAY too amazing to not win this whole thing." Danny is kinda of an ass and I'll be thoroughly bummed if he wins.
I can't wait until next Thursday to find out who is America's favorite dancer. Can't you just imagine the thrill of finding out that you get to dance in Celine Dion's "A New Day" show in Vegas? I mean honestly, if I was in the competition, I'd probably go all Tonya Harding on the other contestants just to secure my victory.

I am very worried about you!!! I don't think you should ever get cable or TIVO. Have you thought about reading more books??? Or at least better TV. Might I make a recommendation or two:
Top Chef
Hell's Kitchen
Big Brother 8
Dr. Phil
Last Comic Standing
Pirate Master
Age of Love
Now that is some quality programming!!!!
Uh, we don't read, remember???
Guilty confession, I actually watched Age Of Love. And surprise, surprise, he chose the 25 year old! Wow, that show cracked the code.....age DOES matter!
My friend has been blogging about Pirate Master all summer. That is, until it got cancel before the season finale for being LAMEO!
MIss Chevious, you took the words right out of my mouth! I totally agree with everything you just said, with two big exceptions.
Danny doesn't SUCK in all caps. He is definitely conceited, but you can tell how hard he has been trying to take the jidges advice and be more open. Him not being in the bottom two was a big moment for him, wasn't it like the first time in about five weeks that he wasn't? It is different for Lacy, who has never been in the bottom, to be gracious when she keeps winning. Danny is having to fight for it. Anyway, how can you stay mad at someone who can do 17 pirouettes at a time anyway? Full disclosure, Danny somehow reminds me of my brother, so maybe I'm more forgiving because of that.
Two, you really can't have a post about the best reality shows and not mention the King of them all, Survivor. They are going to China this time. Don't even try to resist, because I'm going to be talking about it and you are only going to get curious about it so you might as well just realize now that you are going to watch it and love it right along with me.
I've never seen the model one, but I might give it a try. But between Survivor and Amazing Race and Project Runway and whatever that new show his awesomeness Tim Gunn is doing plus "My Life On The D-List", I dunno how much more room for reality I have.
And Christy, I don't know who you are, but even though you scare me by watching that evil chef show, anyone who likes Pirate Master is cool by me.

I didn't say that Danny himself sucked, I said that his *personality* sucked. He has been trying to work on it a little bit, but I feel like it's not a real internal change. It's just him trying to get votes. Which, I realize is the point of the show, but it still bugs me. Especially when the rest of them are all super talented AND charming.
BTW, do you have a half black brother I don't know about???
I gave up on Survivor a few seasons ago. I was getting bored. I felt like it was the same old thing over and over again. I got annoyed when they made that big deal over separating the teams by race and then the second episode mixed them all up. But, we'll see if I can be pulled back in this time around.
Christy is family, so we will excuse her reality TV misjudgments ;)
I was simply trying to point out the worst....all of which I watch. I can't believe I just pubicly admitted that.
Amazing Race and Survivor are the only shows on TV.
Oh wait, I can't believe I left out Intervention. The only show on TV that make my addictions look like childs play.
The casting by race was super lame, but was just to be "controversial". What was even more lame is that they were going to do the same thing again last season, but at the last second (literally, she was on-location and ready to go) one of the contestants pulled out and they had to scramble to make things work with only 19 people. I hate the whole four team approach anyway, regardless of the boring race angle. But that is just to get people to watch for the first four weeks, which are pretty much forgettable weeks anyway.
And it is too bad you gave up, because the last two seasons of Survivor have been particularly strong. Some of those early seasons I wasn't always happy about who won, even if I conceded that anyone who makes it that far deserves it. But the last two have been extremely satisfying and full of intrigue and fun.
Anyway, this year is China, and I can't wait. As long as they can woo Jeff Probst back for more, they will woo me back for more as well.
Oh, and my brother isn't black, or tall, or a dancer. Just conceited. ::giggle::
ANTM is a great show. I just wonder how long they can keep it going without any of these girls getting actual modeling jobs.
I guess I don't watch enough reality. I'm addicted to Big Love, Friday Night Lights, Bones, Medium, and Dr Phil. Yeah! Man Camp, baby!!!! And when are they going to actually show the heroin twins??? They've been in commercials for months now!!!
Oh, and I'm impatiently waiting for Deal or No Deal to come back on the air. I love that show because all the people have big cojones. And that is fun to watch.
Annie -
Who are these heroin twins of which you speak? You mean the twins from ANTP two seasons ago? I'm confused.
Deal Or No Deal? Hmmmm....I'm not a fan of game shows, but that one did delight me because the audience dressed up in strange costumes. I hope they keep that element. It's like Halloween everyday! And, I hope they make them come up with their own costumes instead of providing them at the studio.
Right!!! I want the heroin twins too. Also, what's up with not being able to tivo just "dr phil house." i don't want the 4PM and 7PM showings on tivo!!! I will have 800 episodes to watch. But how can i be sure i won't miss the twins!!! it is very hard to handle.
